On Tap for 2012

This will be my new blog site for 2012.

On tap for early May is a ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway with Jeff Douglas and Mark Koltz.

In mid June, I will visit my dad and cycle the Ride to Montauk. This is a ride that starts at Penn Station in Manhattan, crosses to Long Island, and ends at the Montauk Point lighthouse at the eastern end of the island over 145 miles away. Jeff will join me as will Katie Spear. Hopefully. Mark will join us too.

Then in September I will be riding down the Pacific coast of Oregon and California, from Astoria to San Diego, with America By Bicycle. At least ten riders from our 2010 ABB North cross country ride will also be on this tour.

Training goes well for the Blue Ridge Parkway ride, though this may be the most difficult ride I ever do and one cannot train enough for the effort that will be required. The ride will be 470 miles and 49,000 feet of climbing. Breaking it down, we will average 67 miles and 7000 feet of climbing per day for seven days.
